A new Indian restaurant has opened in Basingstoke, offering family-inspired traditional street food. aai Indian Street Food, at 29 Wote Street, opened on August 23 and has already garnered more than 100 five-star reviews in its first week of operation.
The restaurant is inspired by the founders' grandmother, known as Ajji, who came from a small village in Maharashtra and created 'soulful' dishes with simple ingredients.
The restaurant posted on their Instagram: "We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of Raai, your go-to destination for authentic traditional Indian street food! "Whether you’re craving spicy chaat or sweet Dabeli, a treat to satisfy your taste buds, we’ve got it all waiting for you." The menu offers a selection of authentic Indian street food, including vada pav, chaat, pav bhaji, masala chai and traditional Indian sweets and desserts.
The restaurant will soon feature live sugarcane juice pressing, traditional ice gola, and freshly brewed South Indian filter coffee. Raai will also feature a robotic dosa maker to give customers a live demonstration of how the popular dish is made.
Raai also has a WhatsApp group where members receive exclusive weekly deals, such as samosas and chai for just £3.
The restaurant includes 'spacious' seating, self-ordering kiosks and online ordering for collection, offering free parking nearby.
